Why I built this
I've taught more than 3,000 students. Every semester I watched the same thing happen: brilliant people falling behind — not because they weren't smart, but because nobody ever taught them how to keep showing up.
I tried everything from the front of the classroom. Better lectures. Study guides. Office hours. It helped the students who already had systems. It did nothing for the ones studying alone at 1am, restarting their "perfect routine" every other Monday.
My clinical training had already taught me the science — how the brain actually learns, why spacing and rest beat cramming, why habits beat willpower. The classroom taught me the missing piece: nobody does it alone. The students who made it had people climbing with them.
So we built HikeWise: the science I learned in clinic, the accountability I saw work in classrooms, and a companion who never gets tired of encouraging you. Talent was never the problem. Showing up was. Now showing up is the whole point.
