About Nikolai
I've made it my life's work to understand how people perform at their best. As a Doctor of Chiropractic, a paramedic, and a collegiate educator who has taught over 3,000 students across the country, I've seen firsthand what separates students who thrive from those who struggle. It almost always comes down to two things: habits and focus.
That insight is exactly why I built HikeWise — a smarter way for the next generation of students to take control of how they study. My clinical training taught me how the brain actually learns and retains information under pressure. My years in the classroom showed me that even brilliant students fail when they don't have systems for staying focused and building consistent study habits.
The articles on this blog draw from that dual perspective: the science of how learning works (from my medical and clinical background) and the practical reality of what students actually need (from teaching thousands of them). Every piece is grounded in peer-reviewed research, but filtered through years of real-world classroom experience.
